Between October and December 2018, NIIK’s specialists performed repair works for relining of Urea Synthesis Reactor R202 at Nitrogénművek Zrt. Urea Production Plant (Pétfürdő, Hungary).
Urea Production Unit Pétfürdő II with a capacity of 600 MTPD (Stamicarbon technology) has been operational since 1975. Since 2017, lining leakages have increased the number of unplanned shutdowns of the reactor. Taking into account an extensive NIIK background in inspection&repairs, Nitrogénművek decided to involve NIIK's specialists for urea reactor rehabilitation.
Within the specified period, NIIK’s specialists developed repair technical documentation for manufacturing liner parts and expanding devices followed by technical assistance for the production thereof; performed a whole range of assembly and welding works for installing 32 liner belts including NDT of welding joints.
Upon Nitrogénművek’s request, NIIK carried out repairs of carbon steel shell and overflow pipe as well as performed corrosion inspection of the top and bottom parts of urea reactor resulting a report with the list of defects and recommendations for their elimination during the next Plant Turnaround.
In early January, Urea Plant started production and is currently fully operative. The Management of Nitrogénművek Zrt. highly appreciated the quality of the work performed and professional competences of NIIK staff.
