NIIK develops and implements solutions for neutralization and evaporation of ammonium nitrate melt – for new and existing plants. The goal is to increase efficiency, reliability and sustainability of processes at lower energy consumption.
Greenfield ammonium nitrate plants
During creation of new production facilities, JSC NIIK uses highly efficient melt neutralization and evaporation equipment, developed on the basis of the modern requirements for safety, energy consumption and automation.
Process solutions allow to design equipment with different capacity – from 30 to 100 TPH of the final product, what makes them flexible for plants of different scale.
If necessary, it is possible to develop plants with other capacity parameters – both below, and above the specified range – with creation of individual technical equipment designs.
Engineering approach of JSC NIIK provides fine setting of the process sections, rational use of heat energy and stable quality of the final product.
Revamp and upgrade of the existing plants
The main part of ammonium nitrate amounts in the Russian Federation are produced at USSR АС-72 and АС-72М series plants with the original capacity of about 56.8 t/h.
JSC NIIK possesses an extensive experience in revamp and technical upgrade of such plants by improving them up to the state-of-the-art level in terms of performance, reliability and environmental safety.
The upgrade covers all process stages from neutralization to granulation and includes the following:
- replacement of nitric acid and gaseous ammonia preheaters;
- revamp of neutralization heat units and installation of an additional (third) unit in parallel with the existing ones;
- upgrade or replacement of end neutralizers;
- adding an evaporation line and extension of the melt transportation unit;
- installation of modern melt granulators with improved granule size distribution and reduced energy consumption;
- revamp of air purification sections and exhaust fans of the granulation tower;
- upgrade of the fluidized bed cooling section and installation of an air conditioner upstream;
- renovation of the final granule handling system;
- renovation of the instrumentation and automation system and transition to a modern level of automation;
- implementation of a "weak" evaporation system and a secondary steam condensation section with its subsequent purification.
Each solution is individually selected, considering features of the existing plant, available space and purposes of the client.
Revamp ensures capacity increase, energy consumption decrease and environmental performance improvement without construction of new plants.
