JSC NIIK has comprehensive competence in designing the plants for production of anhydrous calcium nitrate, a product required for both the agricultural and construction industries.
The PDP package (input data for design) developed by the company's specialists includes a process flow diagram for producing calcium nitrate by decomposing calcium carbonate (chalk) with nitric acid in a cascade of reactors. The solution is separated from the insoluble residue on filter-presses and goes to the fluidized bed granulator, where the new product with fraction mainly of 1-4 mm is formed. Based on calcium nitrate produced as per this technology, complex nitrogen fertilizers with the specified properties can be received in high-speed drum granulators of JSC NIIK.
The process is highly efficient, has low emissions and corresponds to the level of the best available technologies. The plant capacity as per the process is 100 000 TPY.
The standard flow rate of main raw materials and utilities per 1 t of calcium nitrate:
- Nitric acid (100 %) – 0,791 t
- Electric power – 180 kWh
- Natural gas – 165 m3
- Mixed steam – 0,38 Gcal
- Compressed air – 1295 nm3
- Water – 0,389 m3
On the basis of the PDP-package, JSC NIIK develops Project Documentation and Detailed Design Documentation, supplies proprietary and process equipment, and integrates solutions for production of complex nitrogen fertilizers in high-speed drum granulators.
