NIIK participated in the 31st AFA International Annual Fertilizer Conference & Exhibition in Egypt

The event brings together regional stakeholders from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, as well as traders and decision-makers in the industry. The conference serves as a global networking platform where industry leaders discuss innovations and sustainability challenges in agriculture. The Arab region is poised for growth, with a particular focus on agricultural productivity, food security, and environmental sustainability.

Founded in 1975, the AFA association plays a key role in the global fertilizer market, uniting more than 180 companies from 29 countries and significantly contributing to the production and trade of fertilizers such as triple superphosphate and urea. This year, the AFA conference took place in Cairo from February 18 to 20, welcoming around 1,000 participants and visitors.

For NIIK, presence in the Arab region and participation in its economic processes is one of its key priorities. Building on previously completed projects and the contacts established through them, NIIK held negotiations on continuing cooperation with Egyptian companies. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss prospects for implementing NIIK's proprietary technologies, providing inspection and repair services for high-pressure equipment, and familiarizing themselves with current trends in the nitrogen fertilizer industry in the Arab region. NIIK delegates attended the conference's closing session, learning about reports on trends and forecasts in the nitrogen fertilizer industry (regional consumption levels, price trends, issues, and challenges the industry faces).

NIIK's expertise in urea production attracted expected interest from Arab fertilizer producers. Due to technical specifics, such as highly corrosive environments, existing capacities require inspections, repairs, and modernization. Additionally, there is interest in the region in improving the efficiency of urea plants by implementing NIIK-designed set of internal devices and constructing new mineral fertilizer production facilities based on Russian technologies.
