Major NIIK project - approval of Glavgosexpertiza received

Construction Project for Ammonia and Urea Complex at JSC Shchekinoazot obtained an approval from the Main State Expertise and the State Ecological Expertise, thus demonstrating the new plant meeting all the necessary requirements and standards.

Demand for fertilizers in Russia is gradually growing, and there is a shift from the use of simple grades to complex ones ensuring the application of the whole range of nutrients in variable proportions depending on the crop species and soil type.

525,000 MTPY Ammonia and 700,000 MTPY Urea new Complex in the Shchekinsky district contributes not only to development of Russian chemical industry but also strengthens cooperation between Russia and China.

This fact says for its significance for the both countries.
The project is being implemented by specialists from three respected companies: JSC Shchekinoazot (Customer), Chinese company CNCEC (Basic Engineering Package, Detailed Design, equipment supply, construction), and JSC NIIK (Basic Engineering Package adaptation, Project Documentation development, Detailed Design adaptation to Russian norms and standards).

NIIK developed the Project Documentation including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Complex.

NIIK experts preformed a detailed analysis of the territory condition, studied official data and monitoring results and developed activities to reduce the environmental impact. The results of these works were approved at public hearings and approval was issued by the State Ecological Expertise on February 15, 2021.

Normally, the implementation of large-scale construction projects takes about 5 years. Different external factors may affect the schedule. Each change that is introduced into the project during this time could cause the documentation package resubmission to the Main State Expertise. The final approval can be only issued for the documentation agreed and approved by all the project participants. So finally, Ammonia and Urea Complex Construction Project at JSC Shchekinoazot was reapproved by the Main State Expertise and the State Ecological Expertise in October 2024.

Ammonia and Urea production technologies used in the Project are modern, energy efficient and correspond to the best available technologies.

In order to reduce emissions, the selective catalytic purification of flue gases from nitrogen oxides and the use of synthesis purge gas as fuel gas are used, thus eliminating its emission into atmosphere.
Ammonia and Urea Complex is the biggest investment project of Shchekinoazot.

Construction is almost finished at the plant site today and the active phase of commissioning works is in progress now.
