Oleg Drobotushchenko, CEO JSC NIIK, took part in a business visit to Ethiopia as a member of delegation of the Russian Federation Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Mr. Oleg Drobotushchenko, General Director of JSC NIIK, as a member of the Ministry of Industry and Trade delegation headed by Mr. Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, had a meeting with Mr. Melyaku Elebel, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Girma Amente, Minister of Agriculture, and representatives of industrial business communities of Ethiopia.

At the meeting they discussed the possibility of urea plant construction in the territory of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. NIIK, as the only developer in Russia with Urea construction reference projects on turnkey basis, presented modern referenced technologies in the field of mineral fertilizers, in particular, urea production technology with capacity of 1 million TPY under URECON® trademark.

“Chemical industry in the Russian Federation has a large pool of advanced technologies, as well as experience in creating modern and environmentally friendly plants. We are ready to cooperate with all interested friendly countries and to help to arrange construction of plants in their territory. We are talking about both consultations and joint projects. Example of JSC NIIK development is very illustrative as the company has been assembling its technological base for a long time. Now the Ethiopian side has an opportunity to find a reliable partner not only for arrangement of a new Urea plant, but also for further maintenance of process equipment”, - said Mr. Mikhail Yurin.

At the meeting with Girma Amente it was decided to create a joint group of technical specialists which will form a list of mineral fertilizers for the purpose of their field testing and subsequent implementation by local agricultural producers. Significant interest in NIIK's skills and readiness to cooperate on specific projects in Ethiopia shows great prospects for mutual relations between the countries on the basis of high-tech solutions of NIIK.
