JSC NIIK Repairs Campaigns. August Digest

NIIK employees successfully completed repair activities at mineral fertilizer plants within the agreed schedule.

A significant amount of work was performed for JSC NAK Azot (JSC MHK EuroChem, Novomoskovsk), where in July two upper chords of the cylindrical part of lining and the upper cone part of lining of column item 6/3 were replaced.
Moreover, all brackets of mass-exchange trays were replaced, and corrosion inspection was made for columns items 6/3 and 6/1 with elimination of detected defects.

In August, a huge amount of work was performed - replacement of 10 chords of lining of cylindrical part of the reactor 11-R-1 cylindrical part. The work was performed on a turnkey basis in round-the-clock mode in two shifts per 12 hours each.

The full scope of work was performed within 26 days (from column disclosure to closing for hydrotesting). During this time 160 elements of new lining were installed, more than 400 meters of seams were welded, corrosion inspection and repair were performed for defects detected during the inspection.

Besides, in August, Laboratory No. 8 specialists performed eddy current inspection of the main process equipment of Urea Unit-3(1). Within 16 days, 13 equipment items and 90 km of heat-exchange pipes were inspected. The work was carried out by two teams at the same time, and that approach allowed to reduce significantly the schedule.

In addition, in August, Laboratory No. 8 specialists performed eddy current inspection of the main process equipment of Urea Unit-3(1), as well as inspection of the equipment of Urea Units No. 1 and 2 at PJSC KuibyshevAzot, promptly eliminating the detected defects. NIIK was responsible for equipment disclosure, disassembly of internals, inspection, equipment supply, elimination of detected defects and equipment assembly.

From August 20 to 23, Laboratory No. 8 employees performed eddy current inspection of heat-exchange tubes of the waste heat boiler in Unit No. 05A at JSC Togliattiazot and issued a conclusion about the condition of the equipment item.

Using the methods of ultrasonic and eddy current thickness measurement and non-destructive testing, the reactor of Urea Unit-4 and the waste heat boiler of Ammonia Unit-4 at JSC GrodnoAzot were inspected. NIIK employees stayed in the Republic of Belarus from the 12th to 16th of August.

All works were performed on a turnkey basis in the shortest possible time with maximum quality. The efficiency and quality of services performed by NIIK specialists have been many times acknowledged by the Customers, ant that fact guarantees the continuation of cooperation with fertilizer production companies during annual scheduled shutdown repairs.
