During the period from 16th to 24th of July 2017 NIIK specialists have successfully completed on a turnkey basis repair of urea reactor (relining of the top part) at Egyptian Fertilizer Company (EFC) in Ain Sokhna.
Established in 1999, EFC urea plant is one of the biggest and most advanced Stamicarbon process urea plants in Egypt. Some repair of the urea synthesis reactor was required because of a crack in the lining found during the previous inspection.
Taking into account an extensive NIIK background in such works in Russia and former Soviet Union countries, the EFC management came to the decision to involve NIIK specialists to the urea reactor relining during the nearest plant turnaround. According to the requirements of the contract, NIIK developed a set of technical documentation, provided the supply of all materials and repair equipment and performed a whole range of installation and welding works at site within the shortest term.
At this time all maintenance and repairs at the urea plant are completed and EFC has already started production of marketable urea at full capacity.
In parallel with the above mentioned activities NIIK carried out a corrosion and eddy current inspection of the high pressure equipment (reactor, after-reactor, stripper, scrubber, carbamate condenser) at the EFC urea unit and gave its recommendations regarding the continued operation of the plant.
The management of EFC highly appreciated the quality of the work performed and professional competences of NIIK staff. Upon completion of the job, both parties agreed to continue the fruitful cooperation not only in the field of maintenance and repairs, but also within some modernization projects in the future.
