R&D Institute of Urea (JSC “NIIK) delegates attended 18th AFA International Fertilizer Forum held February 07-09, 2012 in Sharm-El-Shekh, Egypt. The Forum was dedicated to such problems as population growth and food security in the region. Those are the most acute issues troubling the region due to the scarcity of water resources and harsh climate. Sufficient volume of fertilizer production to satisfy both the local and increasing export demand and the crop yield improvement are the essential tasks to be performed in the region.During the conference R&D Institute of Urea (JSC “NIIK”) delegates had meetings with representatives from major urea production companies. Constant exchange of correspondence between the companies and meetings at conferences are the two most important tools to discuss possible ways of cooperation and establish personal relations. During the negotiations the possible partners were mostly interested in high speed drum granulation for production of slow released fertilizers (urea covered with micronutrients), implementation of computer process simulator for personnel training and cleaning services for heat exchanging equipment. On the latter Arab Fertilizer Magazine published an article by Alexander Chirkov and his co-author Roman Razgonin. The magazine was distributed during the conference.
As a result of the negotioations during 18th AFA International Fertilizer Forum a number of new appointments was scheduled for 2012.
