On April 12, 2011 R&D Institute of Urea and Sojitz (Japan) signed a contract on designing of facilities for urea production unit in Mendeleevsk (Tatarstan Republic, Russia)

This contract named «Design office NIIK-2» launched long-term collaboration and it is a part of the largest industrial complex construction Ammonia-Methanol-Urea. The total budget of the project exceeds 1,5 billion USD. R&D Institute of Urea is a general contractor for designing and construction of utilities and storage units within project office «Design office NIIK-3». This office will be also responsible for building inspection and certification of all equipment. Besides «Design office NIIK-1» of R&D Institute of Urea will deal with audit of detailed design documentation of MHI. This is the first large-scale project in fertilizer industry in recent times in Russia. More than 5 000 specialists from Russia, near and far abroad are involved in this project, which is scheduled to be finished in 4 years. To solve the problems in a more effective way R&D Institute of Urea changes the project designing, planning, control and administration system. For these purposes and to adjust to the world standards new software is implemented and new departments are organized. To optimize the communication system within the project the representatives of the Customer, Japanese specialists and other subcontractors will be present in the office of R&D Institute of Urea on a long-term basis. And specialists of R&D Institute of Urea will work in the offices of their partners. It will demand a higher feedback level in all fields of activities of the company and of course will give rise to further development of R&D Institute of Urea.
Japanese national doll – “daruma” has become the symbol of international collaboration. According to the tradition, one eye of this doll is painted over at the beginning of any business and the second one – at the end.
