R&D Institute of Urea (NIIK) delegates Igor Esin (President and CEO) and Natalia Kargaeva (Head of International Affairs Department) attended 2014 IFA Global Technical Symposium held in April 1-3, 2014 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The symposium replaced the yearly organized safety summit. Despite the traditional considering such events as devoted to fertilizer production sector, the scope of the symposium has become much wider now. It covers global aspects- population growth, increasing urbanization, food insecurity, conservative use of natural resources as well as Increasing efficiency of technologies used and improving efficiency of fertilizer application.
Conference participants included many outstanding people as Michael Pawlyn, Director of R&D Exploration Architecture Limited company also involved into idea world-changing TED talks project, Professor of Turkish Sabanci University Ismael CAKMAK, expert in the field of complex fertilizer application, chief specialists of GPIC (Bahrain), Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Indonesia), Tata Chemicals (India) etc. Conference format has changed relative to previous years, it allows the participants listen to presentations and express their opinion, ask questions and have the questions answered in a clear and constructive manner. All sessions were arranged to allow for a maximum number of experts to present their ideas and interact with everyone in a constructive manner.
We had a great opportunity for a dialogue with IFA General Director Charlotte Hebebrand and IFA President Esin Mete, focusing on ways and means of development issues related to fertilizer industry in our region and throughout the world.
It was also a great chance to meet there fertilizer producers from Russia, Ukraine, Middle East and Asia for discussing current situation, mapping visits and deciding on joint actions focusing on perspective projects.
For traditional technical visit Yara Sliuskil BV (ammonia and urea production) and ICL Fertilizer Europe (PK/NPK production) facilities - two European leaders of fertilizer sector were selected.
IFA has grand development plans for our region and we will hope that in the nearest future the conference will be hosted by Russia.
