Cyanides is a large group of chemical compounds which are hydrogen cyanide derivatives. There are inorganic cyanides (hydrogen cyanide, sodium and potassium cyanide, dicyanogen, cyanogen chloride, cyanogen bromide, calcium cyanide) and organic cyanides. Inorganic cyanides are widely used in chemical, leather, fabric industry, photography, agriculture, in gold mining and electrotyping.
Organic cyanides are applied for pest management, in organic synthesis processes, in pharmaceutical industry, etc.
- NIIK specialists have been working on the subject of sodium cyanide since 1960s. This compound is widely used in flotation process of metal extraction from ore.
- A wide range of research and experimental works has been performed in the sphere of improvement of sodium cyanide process in operation in Korund. NIIK possesses its own state-of-the-art sodium cyanide process and is performing design study of a production line with capacity of 10000 tons of finished product per year with minimum concentration of 97%.
NIIK has implemented a project of a new cyanides production plant for Korund Cyan (Dzerzhinsk) based on EPC process (Germany) with 40000 tons per year capacity.
